SaaS Definition

Software as a Service (SaaS) is a method of software deployment and an alternative to perpetual software licensing. With SaaS, applications are owned, delivered and managed remotely by one or more providers over the Internet or an intranet, and licensed to customers as an on-demand service. An application can be run directly from a SaaS provider's web servers, or downloaded to an end-user's device, disabling it after use or after the on-demand contract expires.
