BPA Established with Planet Associates for Enterprise Management Software and Services
Tuesday, December 22, 2009
On June 2, 2009, an ESI Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA N00104-09-A-ZF36) was established with Planet Associates, Inc., a GSA federal supply schedule holder based in Neptune, New Jersey.

The BPA makes available software licenses, maintenance and related services for enterprise management. Planet Infrastructure Relationship Management (Planet® IRM) software is for the practice of documenting and visually managing all enterprise assets, critical infrastructure and interconnectivity including the interdependencies between systems, networks, users, locations and services. Planet® IRM products are used to manage an organization's infrastructure, including:
  • Disaster Recovery
  • Security Management
  • IT Asset Management
  • Network Operations
  • User, Service and Circuit
  • Change and Configuration
  • Physical Plant and Data Center

Planet® IRM is currently being used at the Department of Homeland Security, Army and Navy for various projects and for the Pentagon Renovation project to provide greater visibility into the entire system infrastructure.

The BPA was established by the Department of the Navy to meet the current and future requirements of DoD and other federal agencies for an agreement for enterprise management. The BPA runs for a five year term and is co-branded with the federal-wide SmartBUY program managed by GSA. This allows the BPA to be used by the entire federal government, though it is managed by DoD ESI personnel.

Benefits of the BPA include a discount of ten percent (10%) off GSA schedule rates for all software products, maintenance, and training services, which is equivalent to a discount of 23% off published retail prices. Planet® IRM software licenses are sold in various configurations based on a combination of the number of user licenses, number of work areas licenses, number of rack licenses, and number of site use locations. A base discount of five percent (5%) is established on the BPA for labor hours ordered from Planet Associates. As with all ESI agreements, customers are encouraged to seek additional discounts from the provider for each transaction.

Planet Associates attests that the Planet® IRM application adheres to IPv6, net centricity, and common security configurations. The BPA also provides the right to transfer licenses within authorized DoD users. For BPA information, visit the Contract tab of the ESI web site (Planet Associates link) . Additional BPA product and support information may be obtained by contacting the ESI Software Product Manager (SPM) via the “Contact the SPM” link on the ESI web site (Ask a SPM link) . Online credit card ordering can be accomplished via the DON IT Umbrella Program ITEC Direct web site ( ITEC Direct link) .
