In the course of interaction with the software publisher/reseller, the team often receives preliminary quotes, sample contract formats, and marketing literature. Anything provided by a vendor (publisher or reseller) should be retained. Gather all relevant data points and documentation (including agreements) offered by the potential provider, and use them as a starting point for your analysis.
